CC is looking more like her old self every day. A slow start to the season, will put up the tree and decorate this weekend we hope. All we have up is the candle wreath the Dawsons sent up. Had a good birthday celebration for Mitch last week. Will stay pretty close to home these next few weeks, it is really cold this time of year so keeping all bundled up. We will spend some time with Gary's family after Christmas. Hope you all have a great season.

Happy Halloween!

We had an unexpected party last night when everyone ended up at our house. A couple of pizzas in the oven and a few batchs of margarita's and all had a great evening... lots of little kids showed up at the door. Mom sat in her big chair with "the Boss" hard had on. I wore my queen crown and mitch dressed like a gangster from the 20's. Kids played some board games. Mom was up with us till 10 and enjoyed the hustle and bustle. Slept in on Sunday and Mitch turned the clocks back when he got up at 3 p.m. (I mean 2 p.m.) I have Wed off work this week so hoping to get started on cleaning up for the November visitors. We talked to both Kristen and Heather this week... both are doing great growing their babies. We can't wait till they are here. Kristen has a shower on 12/5. Heather will have her shower in early March. Mom is feeling pretty good these days, down a few more pounds but that is ok. She had her share of candy this week so may put a few more back on.

October 24, 2009
I can't believe we did not take pictures...Frank was here twice this month, coming and going from his trip back east and down from Port Townsend. Yesterday we had a great visit with Jerry and Terri Hipps - they are doing great and Mom was so pleased they stopped in to visit. They were disappointed in our fog as they drove up from over the hill in his new little Mazda convertible. Mitch and I keeping busy and hope to decorate the house today for Halloween. I'll add a picture when we are done. Getting excited about our Mid November guest list and testing out a few new recipes... only one has approval thus far. Jenny and Adam stopped by a few weeks ago so we could purchase our xmas wrap and cookies for the school fundraiser. Think I'll leave that camera on the kitchen table to remind me to snap for the blog next time and told mom to "remind me" she of all people should be on my case. Mom is doing good. Blood test looks good so back to just pain management for now and pushing the fluids - appetite not so great but keep encouraging her.

October 2009
As Anne at work said " I haven't blogged for awhile" we have been pretty busy. Frank drove down from Port Townsend in route to Illinois and points east. He left his car here for safekeeping and will pick up on Tuesday 10/13 on his way back to Palm Springs. He had a great two day visit with mom. He brought out old pics and scrapbook that belonged to Aunt Dorothy. They had a grand time plowing thru it all thanks to Nancy who thought they might enjoy that. Mitch got to test drive the Jag and pick up starbucks on the morning coffee run.
Heather came up right after Frank left, barely had time to change the sheets... she was up to continue studies in Santa Rosa , had a five day class. so we got to spend lots of time with her and good to catch up on everything that is new and exciting in her life. Mom, Mitch, Heather and I got out to dinner at Nona's on Pedro Point one night for dinner. Mom fidgeting and took a trip to the car to lay down while we waiting for her dinner to be served. She is a much better companion at lunch, but by diinner she is just too uncomfortable. Heather will return on Nov 18 for big family gathering up here (I'll get the week off from work - yippee).

Mom's blood test came back good and she got a flu shot last week... everything is fine. She seems to be taking her pain med every twelve hours but that is what they are there for. As long as she takes them regularly she functions, is alert and happy and still collaging her pictures. She watched and supported me, this week, while I was busy with the Mizpah Annual Quilt show at the Sanchez Adobe, which I co-chair. She even attended for a few hours with a little arm twisting. Here she is below, with Jeanne and one of Jeanne's creations over her head. We have several of Jeanne's quilts and could put on a show of our own.... you can see lots of them hanging on the banister at the exhibit. I just love staging the event and doing all the little detail work to make this a fund raising success. All the funds we raise go back into the Pacifica Community and high school scholarship fund each year. Nancy, Melinda and Kelli all bought a chance on the raffle quilt and will be anxious to know if they won or not (Sunday afternoon at 4:00 is the drawing) The event keeps us all busy and what a great group of friends we have.
The Sanchez Adobe Oct 10-11 Mizpah's Annual Quilt Exhibit. Many of Grandma Hill's quilts are on display each year.

Labor Day Weekend we entertained Nancy, Melinda and Kelly. They came in on Saturday and we all went down to Kenny's for mom's favorite chinese food restaurant. Sunday morning we headed down highway 1 and had lunch at famous local Duarte's in Pescadero and spent afternoon exploring all the local shops - then hit Main street in Half Moon Bay. We were all surprized at Mom's stamina. Monday we spent the morning together and has a lovely brunch together and reminensed and looked at lots and lots of pictures.

August 2009

Another Trip to Coarsegold this time to pick up Mitchs belonging left there after his Mather Summer Job . We had a wonderful Paella dinner at Gary and Joannas and Kristen, Jason, Heather and Matt joined us. Mom quietly ate all the cashews out of the nut bowl so did not have much of an appetite at dinner but she loved being with everyone.

Sorry it has been so long since I updated. Linda got away for a couple of days Camping in Memorial Park with Gary, Joanna, Heather and Kristen. Bobby and Peter came down for dinner te last friday in July. Was short but sweet. Nothing else much going on while we awaited Mitch's return from his summer work at Camp Mather - He came home on Aug 1 and we are all resting easier and getting caught up on household projects. Mom continues to have visitors and frequent phone calls. Tami dropped in while Megan was taking surfing lessons in Pacifica last week. And we got a snap of Rolph (" she used to change my diapers)" and Kathy. Mom had a great check up at Dr. - awaiting blood test results but her blood pressure is good (without medication) and was told to cut back on the "ensure" as she does not need to gain any more weight. Heather up for 5 day conference in Santa Rosa so was great to have her here for the week - can you believe we never took one picture! Looking forward to visitors Labor Day weekend, Nancy, Melinda and Kelly. And Dennis and Bonnie near Thanksgiving. Where does the time go?
Saturday, July 18, 2009

It's been awhile since our last post. Last weekend took a trip down to Coarsegold as Mitchell had Friday off we we met up for a short visit. We miss him terribly and can't wait for him to return home in two weeks.

Heather came up for lunch and then Kristen and Jason came up for Dinner with happy news... they are having a baby next February. This will be mom's first Great Grandchild. Another Goal to meet!
This weekend I took mom out to the Sr. Citizen Community Center Giant Rummage sale. She was looking forward to it all week. She was looking for more picture frames for more collages, but they did not have any worthy enough. We took a quick run over the hill to Aaron Brothers penny sale and picked up a couple more for her - that should keep her busy for a few weeks. After our shopping we stopped at Kennys for the traditional Saturday "Filet of Sole" special. Set her all up at home with collage project and lunch then I took off for a few walks around the track at Oceana for the Relay for Life - American Cancer Society Fund raiser. I participate with the Friends of the Quilt Lady ( to honor Sharon Hale)
Here is Jim and Jeannie and Alan and John. It was a good day, except for once I got home... Jones had cornered a baby skunk on the patio. He got a good spray so right into the shower for us both. Ousted the house and Fabrezzed the carpets and furniture... hope it all disipates by the a.m. He won't be sleeping in my room tonight... sorry about that Jones. You have to choose your playmates more wisely!Monday, June 22, 2009
Happy Father's Day - to all the great Dads!
You know who you are... but we spent Sunday missing a few good one's. Here is Etta and Kathy who just flew in from New Jersey for the Week - enjoy your stay. Those shades are not becuase of the "sun in Pacifica" - they are just protecting the eyes from the "glare thru the fog". We are so glad you were able to squeeze in a short visit and get caught up. Look at mom's tee shirt - "Sexy" and her hot pink hooded leopard skin velvet jacket.... She still does keep us chuckling.

Here she is walking over to Ashley's graduation party Saturday. Congrats to Ashley for getting her BA at Univ of Santa Cruz. What a wonderful party - always a good time with the neighbors!
Mom sat for 1/2 hour and then headed back home for an afternoon nap as her back was hurting. Her blood tests came back and everything looks good! Yippee.
