Saturday 2/21/09 - CC was up for a quick trip to the rummage sale at the community center today. She found some St. Pattys day Beanie babies, a new piggy bank for her collection, cup and saucer and a couple more puzzles to name a few items. We stopped by Kennys for our Saturday Filet of Sole. Wed she had a good visit from the nurse and she is doing ok - The nurse stated that "every day is a gift". With that advise, CC indulges in "deserts first" which is ok too as she has a good appetite again and eating 3 small squares a day. She had lots of calls this week "you know who you are" and she sure enjoyed her valentine calls with Butchie, Conley and Glad. She hopes everyone that can, will drop by around her birthday weekend Mar 14/15 and share a piece of her bd cake.
We give thanks for all the help and guidance we get from good neighbors, hospice and her personal helper Rosalie who comes twice a week and most of all to Mitchell who is always here for her when he is not at school - thank goodness he has a great home hobby shop.

Weekend visitors

Tami dropped in a few weeks ago. Etta stopped in the following weekend - we had a yahtzee game and she won! It was the first time Mitch had played. Adding a picture of Elaine, Spencer and Cameron who visited just after Christmas and our new dog Jones who we rescued from Golden Gate Lab Rescue - "a home for the holiday" and a new addition to the family.

Presidents Weekend/Valentines 2009

Mom had such a great weekend. Friday night Gary and Joanna came up and "surprised" her (even though she was told all week they were coming). We had quiet times visiting, watching tv doing the zigsaw puzzle. Gary and Joanna brought lots of Valentines to everyone. Mom loved the truffles. After they left, Mom and I walked over to the Matysiaks for the Mizpah/Hispah Valentine Party. I offered to wheel mom over in the chair but she insisted she could walk on her own and she did, without a break, and without all the huffin and puffin. It must have been all the sugar in the chocolate. She is down to 160 so loosing the weight has helped her breathing and reduced the back pain. She had a lovely day at the party and one several raffle items. Heather and Matt came up in the afternoon and surprised her again. Mom went to bed early on Valentines and Mitch, Matt Heather and I went to movie "Grand Torino" . Sunday we all had a nice breakfast together... completed that zigsaw puzzle before they left. Monday Presidents day was sleep in late, rest and relax day. Pictures to follow.

Wed 2/11/09 Mom had a good day today. Our first visit from the Hospice Social Worker Mariam C who spent an hour with us, just talking and offering guidance and help. Then a trip to VA for an infusion to help keep Calcium levels down. Mom went thru her recipe box this afternoon and found the red velvet cake recipe from Dolores Knappes, a cinnabun recipe from mom weaver, so she called Glad to share it with her, an indian fry bread recipe which she will share with Joanna and a recipe Granny had dated Dec 19, 1909 titled "Mom's fruit cake" - maybe Cindy will bake that for her - must have been from Elizabeth Harrison. Candi was up to visit and eat her dinner and I worked on a Zig Saw puzzle which I intended to have out for all our visitors, but I am preoccupied by it and should have it finished before Gar/Jo/Kristen/Heather and Matt get up to visit this weekend. Mom got a valentine card from Kathy T and a call from Jennifer N saying Claire and Lloyd would be over to visit on Thursday night for dinner. Mom enjoyed her visit and Yahtzee with Etta and her visit with Tami O in the last couple of weekends. We hope that people will drop by occasionally to say hi.
